Information on Related Products
My goal is to help you, my
fellow hunters and shooters gain some insights on what's out
there and my experiences with it. Although, I don't have everything,
I will start by reviewing what I do use and have and then go
from there.
Manufacturers are more than
welcome to send us samples of their merchandise for review. We
will give good write ups on worthy products after we have tested
them in the field.
Tika t3 heavy barrel stainless 22-250 rem
So far it's one of the nicest guns I've ever shot. I reload of
course and I load 36 grains of IMR 3031 topped with a hornady
vmax that travels at 3952-58 fps. If you can hold it steady on
a good bench you can break the hole bigger all day until it's
time to go home or you run out of bullets. It is a very accurate
shooting firearm and yes I would buy another one and would tell
anyone that these guns shoot well. They also shoot factory ammunition
very well also. The scope I used since I still don't have my
other one back is a 2.5-10x45mm Bushnell Baushe and Lombe. Not
alot of magnification but a very good range for hunting coyote,
fox or even deer.

I just like a little more for
shooting at long ranges or on paper. Appearance is good, It has
a removeable Mag and shoots great! Bolt slides nice, easy to
adjust trigger. Trigger is crisp and you can safely
lighten it up by turning one screw.
Boots: Well I have a couple pairs of Irish Setter boots.
My latest pair I bought last year were around $200 cad and are
gortex and
thinsulate with a 1000 grams. They are warm.. and I like them...
and yes I would buy another pair. They seem a bit clumsy but
the soles are good.. they keep my feet dry and warm. Need I say
more? Good investment.
Crossbows: Only one thing I can say.. well two.
I have two and I don't shoot at the same target twice unless
I wanna
wreck my bolts. They're very accurate and I have harvested many
deer with it. One is an Exocet...it don't shoot as fast as what
it says on the bow. I chrono'd mine and others and they're not
as fast as the sticker. Mine is a 297 exocet and it shoots 290
but with carbons from the newer ones it shoots 299. My uncles'
which is a new one that is suppose to shoot 330fps.. shoots 310
with the carbons(the ones packaged for exocet). Close enough
for me though... My other bow is a Great Lakes Impact by Darton.
It's bragging 343fps and I chrono'd it with a Carbon Impact arrow
that weighed 430 grains at 360fps. Yup, it's fast and hits hard.
I think this is the crossbow for the guy that don't wanna see
his bolts fly. Very fast and accurate and at 165lbs draw weight
I don't need an aid to help me pull the string back. The newer
Exocets are over 200lbs.. So there's goods and bads about either.
The Impact is a compound so the limbs are much shorter than the
Exocets. Less draw weight so it's easier to draw and easier to
maneuver. They both shoot great and apples to apples the pricing
is close. I guess it's a matter of preference but if you're looking
for something new that just isn't in most guys hands because
they just haven't spent the money on advertising... then I'd
give the Impact a go. Accurate and faster than most. If you're
into shooting compounds, then take a look at the Darton pro 2000..
they're very nice. Just a note about bow hunting... just because
you can group these bows at 50 yards doesn't mean you should
be shooting at deer much over 30 yards. Be ethical and make good
clean kills.
Miners' Lamps: Nite Lite Company our of Arkansas
make an excellent light. I've had a couple of them and never
had any problems. Bandit Lights make a very good light too. I
have one of the 20volt Bandit lights that go for 20hours on the
low side and 4 hours on full bright and I love it. It's heavier
than the other little lights but if you want one that puts out
for long periods of time then you need the batteries. Not one
single problem with it and I've had it over 3 years. Still will
burn all night and comes with a smart charger with lights on
it to tell you when it's charging and then a different light
comes on to let you know when it's done. I'd highly recommend
them.
