The masked varmints.....
The raccoon is a nocturnal
animal and lives in swamps, hardwoods, barns and just about everywhere
here in central Ontario. It can be found in most places in North
Americal. Raccoons are conside red
a varmint, and are hunted at night with the use of scent hounds.
They do alot of damage to crops, especially corn crops. They
are usually treed at night with a coonhound and shot in the head
with a .22 rimfire and the law here in Ontario states that the
22 is to be chambered in short, long, or long rifle.
 Raccoons
eat just about anything. What I find they eat alot of around
here, is corn, soya beans, farmers chickens, pretty much anything
that we'd eat they'd eat.. frogs, fish... I'm no expert on a
coons diet but when I hunt them I find the easiest
hunts are in cornfields where there's a woodlot close by. I like
it because it's easy hunting, and walking around the edge of
a corn field instead of ending up down in a big swamp.
