North Victoria Healthy Communities Coalition

The NVHCC was formed in June 1995 with the assistance of the Ontario Healthy Communities Coalition under sponsorship of Youth Aflame Ministries Inc.
The NVHCC is a group of local citizens concerned about the health of the community in which we live. This area is a rural area consisting of a cluster of 5 small communities which is suffering from severe unemployment, depression, suicide, and a lack of hope for the future.
We are trying to make an impact in various ways:
* we have taken youth to Canada's Wonderland free of charge *
* we are planning a community computer lab for all ages *
* we have helped start a local breakfast program *
* we co-presented an interactive health fair *
* we work with other community groups *
We are dedicated to serving the residents of North Victoria County in Central Ontario.

Resources and Funding Sources

For new groups, local fundraising and promotion is important. For further assistance join a news group or conference such as the OHCC conference on Web Networks. This is a place where community groups can share ideas, programs and funding sources. Watch your local newspaper for government programs (contact your MPP and MP). Also, for resources you need, ask suppliers for nonprofit pricing (such as Corel's WordPerfect Suite).
Good luck and let us know of other ideas.
